Jeanette & Justin on Design*Sponge

Jeanette and Justin, a modern, design-minded couple in Los Angeles, had a very distinctive wedding ceremony on a Friday evening in their backyard in the Silverlake neighborhood surrounded (literally in a circle) by their close friends and family speaking about their 10 years as a couple. There were no formal vows, they kept those to a private exchange, but the spoken affirmations of their loved ones. They wanted their celebration to be about community and supportive words for their journey. Followed the next day with a stylized reception at Siren Studios in Hollywood. Justin (the groom), a graphic artist who owns National Forest worked with us to art direct the look and feeling of the wedding. To quote Justin, they wanted to go for "A Stanley Kubrick meets Titanic meets Mid-century modern" dinner party followed by a rooftop cocktail party inspired by the Bjork "Human Behavior" video with pine trees flanked around the space. Bringing back in the Americana vibe with lounge vignettes by Yeah! Rentals for guests to relax on.  J & J really wanted their wedding to have a true eclectic mix of tones and style, an accurate reflection of their tastes. Guests entered the reception in a freight elevator wrapped in a cosmic vinyl application for a pyschedelic entrance. Upon arrival, the guests entered the stark contrast of a sunset rooftop, complete with the Hollywood sign in the background, and a country band Hello Trouble crooning Buck Owens. Step inside the studio to an explosion of geometric shapes, moroccan rugs, wood stumps, pine trees, and case study couches with an original art piece by Justin adorning the pie table.  Pharmacie created original, handcrafted cocktails and Heirloom LA fed the guests a family style feast of local farmers market food. We  designed all florals and decor elements with geometric installations made by Bramble Workshop. A close friend of J & J roasted her own coffee beans to give the guests as an expression of caffeinated gratitude. The night ended with an all out rowdy dance party led by the incomparable Michael Antonia of The Flashdance. Photographing all the goodness was Sarah Yates for Birds of a Feather. Lighting by The Lighter Side and event rentals by Classic Party Rentals. It was a really awesome night with some really awesome clients.
